Welcome to the Department of Ocean Engineering at URI! Offering B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees, we currently have about 125 undergraduates, 40 graduate students, and 14 faculty and staff. Our graduate program was the first of its kind in the nation. We recently established a 5-year B.S./M.S. program for qualified students.
We conduct research and teach in the areas of ocean robotics, underwater acoustics, tsunamis, coastal circulation, marine geomechanics, ocean structures, and offshore energy generation. Our faculty have outstanding international reputations in their fields, earned significant honors and awards from professional societies, and founded a number of startup companies in ocean technology.
I would encourage you to spend some time exploring our web site and familiarize yourself with the Department. If you would like to learn more about Ocean Engineering at URI, please feel free to contact me at the email address below.
