Dr. Miller,
I hope you'll give me just a moment of your attention; I have a very unique opportunity (really!) that your students or colleagues may be interested in.
I work with The Seasteading Institute (TSI), a non-profit organization with the vision of establishing permanent human settlements on the ocean. In opening the ocean as a new frontier, TSI hopes to revolutionize the quality of political organization worldwide by enabling experimentation, innovation, and competition amongst different systems of government. The institute received $500,000 in initial funding from Peter Thiel, co-founder of PayPal and early investor in companies such as Facebook and LinkedIn, and our groundbreaking work has been covered in Wired, The Sunday Times, and CNN.
Building floating cities is obviously a massive and unique engineering challenge, and we're looking for a Director of Engineering to help lead us down the first steps of this path. This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime role with the potential to dramatically impact the world. We need someone who knows ocean engineering, possesses both theoretical skills and a demonstrated ability to get their hands dirty building physical prototypes, and who can manage teams of others to do the same. A full job description is available here.
We'd greatly appreciate any advice you can offer on how we can spread the word about this role to qualified individuals.
Thank you for your time!
