In the Department of Ocean Engineering at URI, we expose our students early to the fundamentals of AUV Design with a two semester series of courses: OCE 215 and 216. These sophmore level design courses introduce the student to the field of AUV's, as well as give them a chance to utilize many of the skills learned in theie freshman year. The class is geared to be exciting, informative, and improve upon students' teamwork and time management skills. Both courses also benefit the student through introductions in fields that they will study in their current or upcoming courseload in Engineering. Such fields include Statics, Dynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Calculus, Differential Equations, Mechanics Of Materials, Electronics, Control System Design, as well as others.
