During the past few summers I have worked for the Great Lakes Shipwreck Historical Society as the Captain aboard their 50' research vessel. The last two summers were dedicated to the archaeological documentation of shipwrecks located in the Whitefish Bay area of Lake Superior. This summer will primarily be dedicated to searching for undiscovered shipwrecks. We have an available deckhand position that could easily be filled locally but...we decided we would try to fill the position with someone that will benefit from the experience. We would like someone that is capable of operating and maintaining our ROV, side-scan sonar, as well as related electronics. The Society is willing to identify and accommodate undergrad or post grad internship possibilities. Existing deckhand skills are not necessary but would be helpful. The position pays 10.50 per hour and housing is available in the Crew Quarters at Whitefish Point MI. While underway, meals are provided. The cost of living in the surrounding areas is not expensive. For more information, I can be reached at (616) 901-5592 or by email. The society website is: http://www.shipwreckmuseum.com Thank you for your assistance. Tom Mannesto tmannesto@hotmail.com
