SubChem Systems is a small business located on the URI Bay Campus. We are seeking some part-time and/or full-time assistance for two-three technical positions that involve working on collaborative (URI-Industry-Government) projects. These positions could start immediately and extend through the summer, and possibly beyond.
Position 1. Computer Programmer
Required Skills: MATLAB programming and GUI development, advanced math and statistics.
Desired Skills: Ocean Engineering or Physical Oceanography
We seek a part-time (20 hr/week) computer programmer to help with the further development of an existing MATLAB toolbox for ocean surface wave analysis. The programmer will work with a small team on the development of a GUI for exploring and implementing statistical curve fits to measured and modeled data. The position requires some algorithm design work, GUI development, algorithm testing and implementation into the toolbox.
Position 2. Oceanographic Instrumentation Technician
Desired Skills: Some engineering (chemical, mechanical, electrical, fluidic, ocean) and instrument assembly and testing experience.
We seek one or two individuals to work part or full-time (20-40 hr/week) on the assembly and testing of submersible chemical analyzers. The technicians will also have the opportunity to work with sophisticated oceanographic sampling platforms such as autonomous underwater vehicles (REMUS UUV, profiling moorings and Webb gliders).
If you are interested in either of these positions, please send an email with contact information and your resume attached, to hanson@subchem.com
